In 2014, Facebook came up with a great way to get local businesses more traffic. It’s officially called “Local Awareness Ads” but is otherwise known as “hyper-local ads” and the goal is to target people within a mile radius of your business. The best part about this type of advertising, besides its distinguished targeting, is the fact that its an inexpensive way to land more customers because your paying for an add that brings in customers instead of paying for a cost-per-click ad when there is no guarantee the click will lead to a sale.
How Hyper-Local Ads Work
Facebook is able to target people who either live in your area or pass through, perhaps on their way to work, through an ad on their Facebook news feed. From here, potential customers are able to message you, call you, find out how to get to your business, or learn more about your business by clicking a link to your website.
How to Target Your Hyper-Local Facebook Ads
When it comes time to create your local ad, there are a few things to keep in mind first. Here are some of the ways that you can choose to target your ad.
Use Zip Codes: When creating a Facebook ad for a local audience, Facebook lets you use zip codes which can really narrow down a targeted area.
Use Local Demographics: You can target people in a specific area according to certain criteria, such as age, gender, and interests. If you run a pet store, then you can target people who are interested in animals, pet food, and other pet supplies.
Show Your Ad at Specific Times: If you are only open Monday through Friday from 10 am to 5pm then it makes sense to only show your ads on Facebook during these times.
At Solutions Digital Marketing we can help you create a local Facebook ad campaign to reach more customers. We will help you write the copy and choose the criteria to make sure your ad gets seen by thousands of people and encourages users to interact with the post, leading to a sale.
